Be Honest
Online, people easily become tempted to stretch the truth a bit. Most often this comes out in the picture they use (e.g., using a picture from a couple years ago when they were 30 pounds lighter). Sometimes if you “click” with someone you may be tempted to say things that you think they want to hear (e.g., such as saying you like fishing too, when the truth is you’d rather pull your finger nails off slowly).
Sure, it’s true – you CAN get someone to fall for you a bit quicker if you use a different picture, say things in your profile that stretch the truth, or tell someone something via email that’s not exactly in line with your beliefs. But if you do that, you’re letting someone else fall in love with a lie.
To be true to yourself and to be fair to the other person, always be honest. Use your recent picture. Tell the truth about your life. Stand behind your own beliefs and don’t pretend to agree with someone else when that’s not how you feel.
There’s a saying those goes something like this – it’s better to be hated for who you are, then to be loved for someone you’re not. This is especially true in dating. Put your best foot forward of course, but be true to yourself.
