After you get over the nervousness of the first few dates, things become much easier. The two of you start going out more, and spending increasingly more time getting to know one another.
If this is someone that you enjoy being with, then your relationship will start to progress. You’ll move out of the “small talk” phase of the first few dates to having deeper conversations, spending more time with one another, and just enjoying each other’s company.
This period is perhaps the most enjoyable part of a new relationship, as your stomach flutters when you think of the other person. Indeed, you probably can’t stop thinking about the other person, and if you’re lucky, he or she feels the same way about you.
This part of the relationship is also easy. You are starting to become more comfortable around each other, and allowing the other person to see you as you really are, warts and all. For example, perhaps your date has been over to your house and seen that keeping a clean house is not your number one priority.
Because this is the point in the relationship where everything is so easy, it’s also easy to get “blinded” by love. We tend to overlook flaws, only to have them become annoyances up the road. We tend to ignore red flags, only to realize later on that hindsight is 20-20.
Remember to keep listening to your intuition with regards to your partner. If you’re the type to get blinded by love so that you are ignoring your intuition, then listen to what your friends say. If all your friends and family don’t like your partner, then there’s probably something about him or her that you’re being blind to.
Your friends and family only have your best interests at heart, so don’t get upset with them if they don’t like the person you’re seeing. Instead, try to see your partner from THEIR viewpoint, so that you can discover what it is that they don’t like. Chances are, whatever it is they don’t like will be something that will “haunt” you in the future.
