The Other Person's Point Of View

Viewing a person unconditionally means that you also start seeing things from the other person’s viewpoint rather than your own viewpoint. The ability to do this is also a key to a maintaining a loving relationship. You are less prone to arguments when you first consider how the other person might be feeling.

When you have an argument, take some time to stand in your partner’s shoes. How would you feel if things were reversed? Would you feel defensive? Would it lead to an argument?

If you do have a disagreement, work out a compromise rather than trying to “win” the argument. Indeed, stop keeping “score” regarding winning and losing arguments. Agree to disagree, compromise as needed, view the other person unconditionally, and move past this rift.
